"Writing the Land"Writing the Land
(2007, 7 min.) CANADA
Director: Kevin Lee Burton (Cree)
Cinematographer: Helen Haig Brown (Tsilhqot'in)
In English and Hunkamenum.

The Musqueam people have lived for thousands of years in and around what is now the city of Vancouver. Elder Larry Grant's experience of rediscovering Hunkamenum language and Musqueam cultural traditions—and the enduring power of language to shape perception—is evoked by fluid camera movement of the urban landscape.
