Yumakwaxa/The Drum Celebration was produced in an animation workshop for teachers and high school students, many of whom were Wixaritari, in the western state of Jalisco. Claymation brings to life the annual drum celebration, a rite of passage ceremony for the children of the community guided by the Mara’acame (spiritual leader), that involves sharing food and hearing stories about sacred places.
