Raúl Máximo Cortés

Raúl Máximo CortésRaúl Máximo Cortés (Purépecha) has been a video-maker since1996, producing documentaries and acting in short short fictions about P'urhepecha history and traditions. His documentary Axuni Atari won the Best Michoacan Documentary Award at the 2007 Morelia International Film Festival. He studied History at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo and trained in video production at the Centro de Video Indígena of Michoacán. He received a grant from Mexico´s Arts Fund CONACULTA to study at the Banff Center in Canada. He lives in Santa Fé de la Laguna, in the Mexican state of  Michoacán.
