Scott Garen

Scott GarenScott Garen has worked primarily as an executive producer, director, and writer of television programs. In 2005, with Barry Clark, he produced A Thousand Roads, the signature film of the National Museum of the American Indian, writing the script with poet/musician Joy Harjo. Garen recently joined with director Chris Eyre, to form a production company, Seven Arrow Signature. Two television magazine segments Garen produced for Channel One Networks won awards from the International Documentary Association in 2000 and 1999. He has directed television specials for the Walt Disney Company and others, including the NBC movie Treasure Island (1994); Simply Mad About the Mouse (1991) with musical performances by Billy Joel and LL Cool J; Mickey's 60th Birthday (1988) with Kirstie Alley and Michael J. Fox; and the Elton John & Minnie Mouse music video Don't Go Breaking My Heart (1987). He received an M.F.A. in Film and Video from the California Institute of the Arts and currently lives in Los Angeles.
