Laura Margulies

Laura MarguliesLaura Margulies creates short films and commercials that mix live-action footage with stop-motion animation created from hand-painted still images. She is a faculty member in Animation at New York University. She recently animated opening sequences to two television programs, Living Courageously: The Spirit of Women and Today's Families: The Wonder of Toddlers. Her animation commissions have included Capoiera, a 1994 animation of the MTV Network logo and she received the Chris Frayne Award for Best Animated Film at the 1993 Ann Arbor Film Festival for Since Our Status Changed. She received a BFA in Film from the University of Hawai'i and an MA in Animation from New York University. Margulies was raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
