 The
animations of Faith Hubley
(1924-2001) have received wide acclaim for their humanistic vision.
Indigenous cosmologies and art, concerns of women, children and
the environment influenced Hubley as an artist and communicator.
She created works together with her husband, animator John Hubley,
until his death, and with the assistance of her children, animator
Emily Hubley and singer Georgina Hubley. The Hubleys won three
Oscars for short subject animation. For twenty-five years Hubley
taught young artists and filmmakers storyboard design at Yale
University's Department of Art. In 2000, a year before her death,
she was awarded the Golden Gate Persistence of Vision Awards at
the San Francisco International Film Festival.

all genuinely beautiful things, it’s very simple so it’s
not exclusive…I believe poetry more than I believe history.
I believe painting, folktales, mythology, good common sense. I
may know nothing; I just want my eyes open to many possibilities.”
