"Cocalero"

"Cocalero"Cocalero
(2006, 86 min.) BOLIVIA/ARGENTINA.
Director: Alejandro Landes
In Spanish with English subtitles.

In 2005, Evo Morales, an Aymara Indian, became the surprise front-runner in Bolivia's presidential race. This up-close look at Morales' campaign reveals a charismatic and down-to-earth man, a leader of the coca-growers union, who puts this issue at the center of his populist platform. With Morales now president of Bolivia, the film is an especially welcome look at the changing tide of political leadership in South America.
