Xina Bena/New Era (2006, 52 min)
Director: Zezinho Yube (Hunikui) In Hatã Kui with English subtitles.
Augustinho, a shaman and patriarch of the village of São
Joaquim in Acre, his wife and his father-in-law recall the years
of brutal exploitation when the Hunikui (or Kaxinawa) were forced
to work in the rubber collection system. With the official recognition
of their tribal territory, the community celebrates a new era
in which their traditions can be passed on to the youth.
