Karané Txicão

August 2004

Karané Txicão (Ikpeng) received his training in videography and editing through the Video in the Villages program, which facilitates video production within indigenous Brazilian communities. Txicão lives in the Ikpeng area of the Xingú Park in Mato Grosso, Brazil. For the production Marangnotxíngmo Mïrang: From the Ikpeng Children to the World he collaborated with two other videomakers from his community. The work has been screened widely in numerous festivals and was awarded Best Documentary in the 2002 Premio Anaconda festival.
