In the summer of 2000, at Burnt Church Reserve, or Esgenoopetitj, in New Brunswick's Miramichi Bay, Canadian federal fisheries officers aggressively attacked a group of Mi'kmaq fishermen as they were hauling in lobster traps. Examining the conflict and its complex roots in the Native history of the Atlantic Coast, the film offers a gripping portrait of a community under siege.
